Liquid Force NRG (2012) Hot
New for 2012 is the Liquid Force NRG. The design directive was easy: make the most powerful kite Liquid Force has ever produced while remaining efficient through the wind window. A difficult challenge that has been met with the introduction of the NRG. It took out of the box thinking and countless prototypes to come up with the perfect equa- tion. What was born is a kite that utilizes a flatter profile, unique bridle geometry, and a 4-strut platform to deliver the wanted performance markers. Combined with the reliability of the Liquid Force Diamond Wing Tip the NRG re-launches automatically and boasts a massive wind range. If you are looking for unsurpassed power with deep low end and lift for huge jumps, the NRG is your kite.

Liquid wind and hangtime king!
I had a chance to test a 10m on a pretty windy day back to back with an Envy and Nirvana so was a good comaprison of power. The Envy is a powerful kite due to its deep profile but the NRG had sooooo much more. I was comfortable on the Envy but the NRG was seriously powered!!! THe great thing about it is that thanks to the high aspect shape, thin profile and new bridle the depower was huge and i could push the bar out, edge hard and completely kill the power. Its is not the same as the Envy or Havoc in this aspect as you can push it right to the edge of the wind, old school style to kill the power and you don't end up being dragged downwind, just go faster and further upwind!!
Sent it for a few jumps and its was different to many other flatter shaped kites out there, its rockets you up to the peak of the jump in nano seconds! Huge air is achievable even when not particularly powered due to the high aspect shape and fast turning. The flat shape gives the kite massive hang time, you are up there for ages and have so much time to decide what to do and where to land!
Over all, its does exactly what LF have intended, huge jumps, hangtime, powerful, loads of depower and the smooth direct turns synonymous with the LF range. Definitely a good choice for freeride guys who like to go big.
